Performing Arts Digital Collections for the New Millennium

Three ECLAP workshops have been organised at La Bellone, House of Performing Arts in Brussels, on 9th – 10th June 2011.

La Bellone, House of Performing Arts in Brussels, that hosted the event.

These days were an intense (and productive) marathon of rewarding hard work for all of us. They gave great opportunities to discuss and to think on the important themes, challenges and issues facing the fields of digital libraries, education and research, and intellectual property rights in the performing arts (which are respectively the themes of the three ECLAP Working Groups).

Thanks to some internationally renowned guest speakers and to some case studies, we all improved our knowledge on critical issues related to Performing Arts Digital Libraries and got an overview of state-of-the-art developments in this field.

The first ECLAP Workshop was dedicated to the Tools for Performing Arts Digital Libraries. Then we tackled the topics of Theatrical Education and training and of e-tools for education and research in a second Workshop. On Friday the 10th, there was the third ECLAP Workshop, during which we studied IPR issues and business models for performing arts content.

We were around 75 persons to attend the two workshops of Thursday the 9th, and 65 attendees for the third workshop on Friday he 10th to discuss, network, and share best practice examples.

We would really like to thank our keynote speakers as well as our consortium speakers, whose inputs and proposals deeply enriched this event. And of course, we also want to thank again all the attendees for having joined us. We are looking forward to continuing in the development of these three workshops productive discussions all together!
